San Francisco, CA – Davingy Arts is proud to announce that Lone Bison, a sculpture by David I. McGraw aka Davingy, will be featured in the Bothwell Arts Center’s exhibition America in Art: 250 Years of Shared Creativity at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, California, from May 14 through July 25, 2026.
Presented as part of the nation’s semi-quincentennial celebration, the exhibition explores the many perspectives, experiences, and identities that have shaped America over the past 250 years. According to the gallery:
“Visitors to the exhibit can expect a wide-ranging visual journey – from rural and urban environments to symbolic imagery and lived experiences – offering many viewpoints on how America has been seen, felt, and imagined over the past 250 years, with all those complexities.”
McGraw’s Lone Bison, an abstract bronze sculpture, reflects themes of resilience, isolation, endurance, and strength through its bold form and textured surface treatment. The work draws inspiration from both the physical presence of the American bison and its symbolic role in the nation’s cultural and environmental history. By abstracting the animal’s mass and movement into expressive sculptural forms, McGraw, who produced five of these pieces in a limited run, invites viewers to consider the relationship between wilderness, identity, and survival in the American experience.
The exhibition will be open to the public Thursdays through Saturdays from 12–5 p.m. beginning May 14. An opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, from 2–4 p.m. at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater. The reception is free and open to the public.
“I’m really excited for Lone Bison to be a part of the America in Art exhibit,” McGraw said. “The gallery’s concept for honoring our country’s complex history through artistic expression is exactly the type of space I want to participate in. Art has the ability to create conversations that are emotional, reflective, and deeply personal, and I think this exhibition embraces that spirit.”
The inclusion of Lone Bison continues a strong year for Davingy Arts. This marks Davingy’s third gallery-accepted work of 2026. Earlier this year, a sculpture from Davingy’s Psychopop series was accepted at the Center for the Arts in Healdsburg, while his “Cool Jazz” sculpture is on display at ACCI Gallery in Berkeley throughout the month of May.
Known for transforming industrial materials and mechanical forms into emotionally resonant contemporary sculpture, McGraw’s work often explores the intersection of technology, memory, movement, and human identity. His sculptures combine bold structural compositions with vibrant finishes and reclaimed elements, creating works that feel simultaneously monumental and deeply personal.
