Santa Rosa, CA — Blue Slugger, a sculpture by David I. McGraw aka Davingy, has been successfully installed at The Living Room, a Santa Rosa nonprofit that provides collaborative community support for women and their children during times of housing insecurity and urgent need. The sculpture is now on permanent display at the organization’s facility, where it can be enjoyed by both residents and staff.
The installation marks the culmination of a generous act of community spirit. Blue Slugger was originally auctioned at a fundraiser hosted at Davingy’s Orchard of Art in Forestville, CA, the home of more than 50 sculptures. The anonymous winner of the auction chose to donate the sculpture to The Living Room so that residents and employees of the organization could experience the work firsthand. That act of generosity now lives in permanent form in The Living Room’s safe and inviting space.
Like much of Davingy’s work, Blue Slugger pairs industrial heritage with playful form. A weathered rail track, a relic of locomotion and labor, hangs suspended within a vivid powder-coated blue arch, transforming raw weight into poised stillness. The contrast of rust and cobalt invites reflection on strength, utility, and the unexpected beauty found in repurposed materials.
“I hope that this brings people peace, hope and salvation,” McGraw said after completing the installation process. “The Living Room is doing such important work and I feel incredibly grateful that they are providing a permanent home for this art.”
Founded in 1993, The Living Room supports women and children in need through community fundraising efforts, most recently the 2026 “Celebrating Women: Rooted in Resilience” annual event. Over more than 30 years of service, The Living Room has become an irreplaceable part of the social safety net in Sonoma County, touching the lives of thousands of women and children who might otherwise have nowhere to turn.
The installation of Blue Slugger deepens a relationship between Davingy Arts and The Living Room that has grown over time. Davingy has donated artwork and experiences in support of the organization’s work. Earlier in 2026, a package including a Psychopops sculpture, a two-night farmhouse stay, and an Orchard of Art tour accounted for more than 10% of the money raised in the silent auction portion of The Living Room’s “Celebrating Women: Rooted in Resilience” event.
