Davingy Arts Donates to The Living Room’s Silent Auction Fundraiser

Forestville, CA – Artist David McGraw, aka Davingy, is donating a “Sculpture * Vacation-Rental-Farmhouse-Stay * Orchard of Art Tour” trifecta packagefor auction to The Living Room’s upcoming fundraiser on May 3 from 2-5 pm PST at Balletto Vineyards 5700 Occidental Rd, Santa Rosa, CA 95401.

The Living Room, a collaborative community supporting women and their children during times of housing insecurity and urgent need, is hosting an event called “Celebrating Women: Rooted in Resilience,” which includes a “curated auction experiences” with aims to raise $75,000.

Davingy’s offering includes a one-of-one sculpture from his Psychopops series, a two-night stay for up to 10 guests at a historic farmhouse vacation rental in Forestville, CA  and a curated tour of the 50+ sculptures in the adjacent Orchard of Art.

“The Psychopops series is Davingy’s democratic offering: contemporary sculptures scaled and priced for both private homes and gallery settings. These abstract constructions often include figurative elements. The works invite a reciprocal encounter, appearing to return the viewer’s gaze. The visible mechanics of fabrication; exposed joins, fractured surfaces, and color flashes, become a language referencing the tools and processes used to create them. Approachable, often humorous, and freestanding, the sculptures possess an avant-garde insistence, demanding contemplation and close attention even as they resist easy explanation.”

Recognizing its significance and faded charm, Davingy purchased this historic property in 2021 from a family that had owned it for 160 years. Undertaking a ground-up restoration, Davingy breathed new life into the farmhouse just as he breathes new life into upcycled and abandoned items. Today, the farmhouse has been restored to its former condition and serves as both a vacation rental and home to the Orchard of Art, where found objects have been transformed and reimagined.

The final element of the auction package is a tour of the sprawling Orchard, led by either Davingy or a docent. The auction winner (and their guests) will enjoy a diverse offering of towering unique outdoor sculpture installations; all set within a beautiful backdrop of the surrounding landscape where redwood forests meet vineyards in the Russian River Valley.

“It’s my privilege to participate in this important event,” McGraw said. “This is the latest collaborative initiative with The Living Room and we’re excited for what’s to come as supporting causes like this in the backyard of our own community is part of our artistic mission.”

The Living Room and Davingy kicked off their collaborative efforts with the Orchard of Art hosting a grand opening fundraising event last year. The event included a silent auction, in which an anonymous winning bidder of a Davingy sculpture opted to donate it to The Living Room. That sculpture, Blue Slugger, will be installed at The Living Room soon.
