Orchard Duke

Like the great Duke Kahanamoku, this work rides
the waves of Waikiki apple orchard.

Ride the wave like the great Hawaiian surfing pioneer Duke Kahanamoku via Orchard Duke, a blending of the weathered soul of a surfboard with supporting rebar geometric shapes. Upcycled piping from a metalyard gives the vintage floating toy/tool a sturdy foundation. The contrasting combination creates a loud presence that announces itself in Davingy’s Orchard of Art like a mammoth wave does the same at sea.
