Orange Dork

This old propane tank laid in the weeds leaking for years. Davingy was drawn to the shape and sheer size of it. It took weeks to clean it out with kitty litter and dawn dish soap. The topper is an old hay dragger, almost like a head to the body.

Intrigued by the shape, history, and large size of this old propane tank, Davingy spent days cleaning and preparing it for a fresh coat of paint and new, elevated life. Repainted in a fiery bright orange, the tank is capped with an old hay dragger blessed with a fresh coat of red paint.  Figure-like with a suggested head and body, this work is part of Davingy’s ongoing fascination with “totems”, drawing inspiration from the arts of Oceania.
