Monster

This piece was originally stationed on the ground in the early 2000’s. It was dormant in Davingy’s studio for some time until he dug it up and suspended it higher in the air. Depending on the time of day the Monster changes color from red to orange; but it’s contrast against the greenery always pops.

Suspension is the draw in this Monster of a sculpture, with a bright reddish orange geometrical centerpiece hanging by cables connecting four tall blue poles. Its mysterious presence and perceived weightlessness suggests an otherworldly creature, phantom, or monster. At different angles, the geometric blocks transform the overall shape into ambiguous forms that toy with three dimensional space. The central color contrasts with the blue support poles and pops against the greenery behind it as Monster demands attention.
