Difficult Bastard

Davingy’s funkiest piece yet. A Teletubby was dropped into an cosmic blender.

In Davingy’s self-described “funkiest” artwork, Difficult Bastard combines an old safe deposit box and scaffolding, along with other familiar studio materials, to create a playful intervention of color, shape, and weight. Slender blue and green scaffolding is positioned on the increasingly bright red lower portion of the sculpture, with two silver boulder-like forms balanced on either side. With its bizarre mashup of shapes and colors, the artist likens the structure to a Teletubby as both share whimsical traits of nonsense and humor.
